At Brown Rice we follow the philosophy of Whole Food. We believe this is the most healthy approach to nutrition, a healthy lifestyle and a healthy environment. A Whole Food diet means literally that, we eat everything that is edible. The seeds, pips and skins of many fruit and vegetables have vital elements for a healthy diet. By eating Whole foods we give our bodies the vitamins and minerals we need and we reduce kitchen waste too.
When we cook we want to use the very best nutritious and safe ingredients so we have to know our suppliers personally. We don't just look for organic Certification, we meet our suppliers face to face on their land. We see what they do, we learn how they think and make sure they share our belief that healthy nutritious whole food is good for people, good for society and good for the environment. We even make sure that liquids we use to wash the dishes in the restaurant are as safe and environmentally friends as we can find.

How do we select our ingredients? We always check where our ingredients are grown, who takes care of them and how they do it. Our suppliers know there is no better food than the food grown by people who understand and respect nature.

At Brown Rice Cafe we use fresh seasonal vegetables from all over Japan. Each supplier has their own special qualities but they all share a passion for real food and a respect for nature. Each supplier sends us information about their produce with their delivery. This information informs and inspires our chef and staff and transforms our recipes.

We enjoy searching for new ideas from cuisines around the world to enhance our recipes, which are based on traditional Japanese cooking. There is a growing appreciation among Japanese who are rediscovering the beauty of our food traditions and culture. Japanese food is flexible enough to blend with tastes from other cultures while retaining a special uniquely Japanese quality. About Our Menu
Our menu is focused on three fundamental foods: vegetables, brown rice and soy. We try to find ways to capture the best qualities of each ingredient no matter how long it takes. Everything we offer is carefully prepared by hand. Our pickles, miso and dressings are all home made in our kitchen by our chefs who are dedicated to a Whole food way of life.

Rich bean and grain soup served with home baked bread.

Deep fried tofu pouch filled with brown rice, ratatoulle and miso served with miso soup and salad.
BEAN AND VEGETABLE CURRY    ¥1,050
Served with brown rice, salad and home-made pickles with optional Anan spice for extra flavour.

We use organic vegetables whenever possible.

A healthy combination of atsuage, tofu, hijiki and seasonal vegetables.
<DESSERTS AND CAKES>
All our cakes and desserts are home made in our kitchen. Brown rice amazake is used as an alternative to sugar, and kanten in place of gelatine. Our cakes and desserts do not contain any dairy ingredients.
